Applying for other reasons
Issues at school
If your child is unhappy and wants to move schools, you should discuss this with your child’s headteacher first.
Only make an in-year application if the issue cannot be resolved.
If you are considering moving schools because your child is at risk of being excluded, email prt@lincolnshire.gov.uk for advice.
Moving from an independent school
If your child is transferring from an independent school to a mainstream school during the school year, without changing your home address, please make sure to include this information on your application. You should also provide the date your child is due to leave their current school.
If we’re unable to offer a place at one of your preferred schools, we will make sure your child is offered a place at a school within a reasonable distance of your home.
A reasonable distance in Lincolnshire is:
- Primary School: Within five miles.
- Secondary School: Within ten miles, or the three closest schools in Lincolnshire if fewer than three schools are available within ten miles.
