New housing with extra care welcomes first resident

Partners outside Diamond Place extra care housing in Welton

Diamond Place in Welton is designed to offer independent living for over 55s with care or support needs.

The recently completed development includes 62 one-bedroom apartments for affordable rent and offers a wide range of communal facilities including seating areas, restaurant, assisted bathing, mobility scooter recharging store, nostalgia room and landscaped gardens. In addition, there are 10 two-bedroom bungalows available to buy under the Older Persons Shared Ownership Scheme.

Developed through a partnership with Lincolnshire County Council, West Lindsey District Council and LACE Housing, helping older people and people in need of support improve their health and wellbeing.  This project was made possible by a £5.6m grant from Homes England.

Councillor Wendy Bowkett, Executive Councillor for Adult Care and Public Health, Lincolnshire County Council, said: “Diamond Place can offer 55s with care needs the support they require to live self-sufficiently within their local community. It features on-site care staff and welcoming communal facilities and is within easy reach of village shops, the doctor’s surgery and public transport. I’m delighted that we’ve been able to welcome our first resident so soon after completing the project and am sure many others will take advantage of this superb accommodation in the near future.”

Nick Chambers, Chief Executive of LACE Housing, said: “We are delighted to complete our fourth development of Housing with Extra Care in Lincolnshire. Situated within the beautiful village of Welton, Diamond Place provides 62 much needed new homes for those aged 55 years and over who value their independence. This development would not have been possible without the invaluable support from Lincolnshire County Council, West Lindsey District Council and Homes England.”

Cllr Diana Rodgers, ward member for Welton at West Lindsey District Council, said: “We are proud to have supported the delivery of this development and worked with Lace Housing to ensure Diamond Place provides the support and amenities people need. The first resident has already now moved into Diamond Place, and we look forward to seeing many more people take advantage of this great amenity.”
