A crew from Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue have been thanked following a late night dog rescue.

A team of firefighters from Woodhall Spa attended a farm on Old Woodhall Road following a call at 00.23 on 13 January to reports of a dog stuck in a 6 foot hole.

Having been let out before bed, the terrier disappeared from his owner Dave Benton, and was later located stuck down a hole. After trying to get the dog out himself, Mr Benton called for assistance.

The team arrived on scene and worked hard to get the dog out, providing lighting and using thermal imaging cameras to get him to safety and reunite him with his very grateful owner.

Ian Draper, Watch Manager at Woodhall Spa, said:

“After the recent cold weather the ground was extremely hard which made digging the dog out a challenge, but we were delighted that this shaggy dog story had a happy ending!”
