10 – 16 January is National Obesity Awareness Week and people are being encouraged to access the support available to achieve a healthier weight.

Obesity levels continue to rise across the country, having a negative impact on people’s health and wellbeing and putting additional pressure on health services. Currently in Lincolnshire, around two thirds of adults are overweight or obese, with obesity also affecting a growing number of children and young people.

Andy Fox, consultant in public health, said: “Maintaining a healthy weight brings a range of benefits, but it can be difficult for some people to achieve alone. However, a wide range of free support is available through One You Lincolnshire, helping you to make small, sustainable changes to improve your health and wellbeing and live a longer, happier life. This includes support to help you eat well and move more, including online gym classes and a weight management programme for families. So, start improving your health today with our tools, motivational support and encouragement to guide you every step of the way.”
